Precision CNC Machining for Mission-Critical Components
Some industries can use off-the-shelf parts. Others cannot afford to. Carr Machine & Tool exists for manufacturers in defense, aerospace, space, and advanced robotics where a machining error is not a rework event; it is a program failure.
Since our founding, we have built a shop around one consistent idea: high-stakes parts need high-accountability processes. That is why we invested in AS9100D certification and ITAR registration, and why we run 5-axis lights-out machining to hold tolerances at scale across every shift.
Whether you are procuring flight hardware, weapon system components, satellite structures, or precision joints for humanoid robots, the requirements are different. Our process documentation, material traceability, and inspection protocols are built to meet each one.
Certified to Perform in Regulated Industries
Our facility operates under certifications and controls that meet or exceed the expectations of regulated industries:
AS9100D Certified Quality System: Our quality management system is not a binder on a shelf. It controls how we plan jobs, manage materials, run inspection, and document results. Every part that leaves our facility has a paper trail that stands up to customer audit.
ITAR Registered: We are registered with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. That means we can take on export-controlled work without requiring you to qualify a separate compliant supplier or split your job.
5-Axis Lights-Out Machining: Our Doosan 5-axis equipment gives us the ability to machine complex geometries in a single setup. Lights-out capability means we run through nights and weekends without compromising part quality, which directly affects your lead time.
Material Expertise Across Alloy Families: We regularly machine titanium alloys, nickel superalloys, aluminum, stainless steel, tool steel, copper alloys, and engineering plastics. Our team programs each material specifically, such as feeds, speeds, and tooling, which are not borrowed from a similar job.
These certifications aren’t marketing badges. They’re the foundation of how CARR delivers measurable precision and verifiable compliance.
Engineering and Manufacturing Integration
What distinguishes CARR across all industries is our technical collaboration with client engineers.
From concept validation and material selection to prototype iteration and production scaling, our process integrates manufacturing insight early in development.
By involving our team before final design lock, clients gain manufacturability feedback that improves accuracy, shortens cycle times, and lowers overall cost.
Our engineering collaboration includes:
- Design for manufacturability (DFM) consultations.
- Material performance recommendations.
- Process planning for tight-tolerance and multi-axis components.
- Prototype validation and quality reporting.
MATERIALS WE USE
Our core strength lies in machining complex materials, including titanium, 4140 steel, 15-5 and 17-4 steel, 2024 and 7075 aluminum, and others!
We pair that with extensive in-house capability:
- 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC milling and turning
- Precision inspection in a temperature-controlled environment
- CAD/CAM integration with customer engineering data
- Packaging and logistics solutions for global supply chains
This blend of equipment, expertise, and documentation ensures every part that leaves our facility is ready for immediate use in production or assembly.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What types of parts does Carr Machine & Tool specialize in?
We specialize in precision, tight-tolerance components for defense, aerospace, space, and robotics applications. That includes structural housings, brackets, shafts, bores, manifolds, and complex multi-feature parts that require 5-axis positioning or multi-operation setups.
Is Carr Machine & Tool AS9100D certified?
Yes. Our AS9100D quality management system covers all production operations, including planning, in-process inspection, first article inspection, and final documentation. Certification records are available upon request.
Are you ITAR registered?
Yes. We are registered with the U.S. Directorate of Defense Trade Controls under ITAR, which allows us to accept work involving controlled defense articles and technical data without requiring additional supplier qualification steps from your compliance team.
Where are you located, and do you ship parts nationally?
We are located in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, in the Chicago metropolitan area. We ship finished parts to customers across the United States. Many of our defense and aerospace customers work with us entirely electronically, by submitting drawings, approving quotes, and receiving parts via freight.
What materials can you machine?
We work across a wide material range, including titanium alloys, Inconel and other nickel superalloys, aluminum alloys, stainless steel, carbon steel, tool steel, copper alloys, and engineering plastics including Nylon, Acetal, and Delrin.
